Mankoro Matlou, who is accused of being a fake dentist since 2007, is out on bail
The allegedly fake dentist who was arrested two weeks ago in Polokwane, Limpopo, has been granted bail.
Mankoro Josephine Matlou, 32, appeared before Magistrate Mohammed Sheik in the Polokwane Magistrate`s Court yesterday and was granted bail of R1 000. Her case was postponed to June 3 for further investigation.
Matlou is alleged to have been operating as a dentist without proper qualifications since 2007.Matlou revealed that a man she identified only as Abdular from Pretoria had assisted her to obtain a fraudulent matric certificate. She added that another man, who she identified as Mpho, also from Pretoria, had assisted her to obtain both the degree and a certificate.
Hawks spokesman Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi said they were going to verify with Umalusi if the qualifications she had obtained were in existence and to whom they belonged. He said they would also pursue the people Matlou mentioned with a view to finding the truth as to what had transpired.
Matlou`s qualifications came under scrutiny after her employer in Polokwane, Dr Nobengazi Shamu, from whose surgery Matlou had worked for only three weeks prior to her arrest, discovered they were not authentic.
